Roof repair

Find where the water gets in
A ceiling stain does not always sit below the leak. Water can travel along the roof deck before it reaches the room below. An assessment should check the shingles, valleys, vents, chimney flashing, and nearby roof joints.
Common repair work
- Replacing missing or damaged shingles.
- Repairing flashing around chimneys and walls.
- Replacing worn vent boots and seals.
- Checking a recurring leak at a valley or roof edge.
What the estimate should include
Ask which materials will be removed, what will replace them, and how the repair connects to the existing roof. The estimate should explain color-matching limits and the price of any decking repairs found after opening the roof.
When to discuss replacement
Repeated leaks and widespread wear deserve a broader assessment. Compare the proposed repair with a replacement estimate if much of the roof is deteriorated. Read the repair or replacement guide.
